2022 Bursary Applications
Bursaries are open to all current Bridges for Women clients and graduates. This year, there are five bursaries available, each with their own criteria. Application deadline is Monday, June 6 @ 2pm. Applications can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or dropped off during office hours at the Fort Street office.

Founding Mothers Bursary
The Bridges Founding Mothers Bursary is named in honour of Bridges’ five Founding Mothers: Arlene Wells, Dr. Katie Cooke, Joan Krisch, Diane Erickson and Kathryn Ogg. The vision of the Founding Mothers was for women to create a program which brought together the supports women survivors of abuse need to break the cycle of violence and achieve economic stability. These two $500 awards are for Bridges participants/graduates who have experienced barriers to self sufficiency and employment.
Bridges for Women Society Community Bursary
The Bridges for Women Society Community Bursary is made possible through the generous donations of Bridges’ community of donors. The $500 bursary will be awarded to a Bridges Participant or Graduate who has goals related to ongoing healing from the impacts of trauma and moving towards economic self-sufficiency. The funds can be used to support the Participant/Graduate in achieving their personal and career-related goals. In recognition of the additional barriers faced by Indigenous, Black and people of colour, applicants who identify as part of these communities will be prioritized.
Rimer Life & Career Enhancement Bursary
MaryLynne and Kirby Rimer, long time Bridges for Women supporters, are offering a Bridges student or graduate a $500 grant towards activities that will enhance her move towards independence.
Friends of Pat Nichol Bursary
The Friends of Pat Nichol Bursary is named in memory of coach, public speaker, and friend to all, Pat Nichol. As she said, “Pay attention when an idea, a question, or a thought keeps coming back. Listen to it, know that somewhere, somehow, something is suggesting there is a goal, a dream that needs to be acted upon… our world needs your ideas, your dreams”. This $500 bursary is open to all Bridges participants and graduates. Funds can be used to support the recipient in their next steps towards self-sustaining goals, including employment, self-employment, or further education.
Bridges Board of Directors Bursary
The Bridges Board of Directors Bursary is made possible through the generous donations of Bridges’ Board of Directors and their networks. Up to $500 is available for a Bridges student or graduate who has demonstrated leadership in their community.
